I’ve crashed right after the boys went to bed the past two nights, each time with a mind to just nap a bit before I continue on with a cross stitch. In my family, it’s the year of the baby, and I’m hoping to get three simple bibs done before Fall. The one I’m working on currently is fun and freestyle. I worked out part of the pattern from a Pearler bead pattern.
Perler bead patterns are a neat way to start a cross stitch- just imagine each bead as an “x”! Then an outline in back stitching can be added as needed, along with quarter and half stitches if it needs a little rounding. I keep a May Designs notebook of graph paper in my purse, ready if I need to jot a note or sketch in a pattern. Or if the little guys I run with need to draw while we're waiting somewhere.
Dinner tonight is slow-cooker buffalo chicken sandwiches inspired by this recipe on Sweet Little Blue Bird:
It’s a regular on our rotations. I save a bit of the buffalo sauce to pour on at the end, since it gets a little thin in the crock pot. I also use ranch dressing as a condiment instead of adding it during cooking, and I throw a sliced onion in for a bit more flavor.
Boiled corn, kettle chips, and salad round it out nicely! And I can have dinner and hang out with the gang.
