My youngest had the best April Fool’s trick today - hide the nap. Not the funniest joke. He’s fought it all day and ran the gamut from full-on fit to adorably woozy. And he forgot for a minute how to blow a dandelion. Seeds are healthy snacks, right?
Yes, the garden is filling in nicely. Much better than the things I’m hoping to grow.
Today has been less art creation and more art appreciation. We went to the Women’s Club Art Fest, which featured beautiful jewelry, pottery, and paintings from local artists. My oldest, after noting the existence of a stage, decided to put on a comedy show with his favorite kindergarten jokes, which I guess is an artistic endeavor, too. And everyone there was so nice.
So what do you get when you cross a porcupine and a sheep? An animal that knits its own sweaters.
Dinner tonight is a whole chicken. You know the ones that are so cheap, but you pass them by because a whole chicken is a total pain. Grab that chicken and throw it in the slow cooker!
I cubed six potatoes, sliced an onion, and threw a few carrots into the crock after spraying it with non-stick spray. Then, I rubbed the chicken down with a garlic clove and a coating of Mrs. Dash, and I added the garlic clove to the potato layer. The chicken had to be spread out a little to get the lid on, but it’s already done and smelling amazing.
The bulk of the broth created will be ladled out and saved for white chicken chili later this week. A little milk in the potatoes, and I’m going to smash them for the best mashed potatoes you’ve ever had. The other veggies will be removed to be served with the chicken, which falls off the bone, no carving needed!
