I love stash-busting, which is probably why it's never over. For the uninitiated, stash-busting is done by concocting projects to clear off your crafting space and avoid the question, "Why exactly are you going to Michael's again?" (Of course, having supplies shipped avoids the question, too!)
Like these pretty, soft flowers that used several small leftover balls yarn.
Or the buttons from odds and ends that finished my cup cozies.
The worn-out cutting board that became my summer yard sign,
and I've just ordered the mounting my oldest will need to enter the photography competition this year. It's a dollar per entry for the Youth Category, and it's so worth it, especially if you plan to go anyway. My son was so excited, not only to see his work, but the creations of all the other kids, too. The community spirit of the show was a neat bonus.
So even if you're far from Nashville, find your fair and show your flair! The entry information and applications for the Tennessee State Fair can be found here: http://tnstatefair.org/competitions/creative-arts/
Entry deadline online is August 19, 60 days to get something fantastic together!
