I was so excited to see my husband's expression when he got his present this Father's Day. I felt this print, from AmourPrints on Etsy, was particularly apt for our two sons, and the song is one of our favorites to sing along with on YouTube.
I often suggest that we go to see Donnie Osmond and yell, "Sing Mulan!" Or I guess we could ensconce ourselves in his furniture collection (why does everyone have one of those?).
AmourPrints had a fantastic collection of art prints and quickly shipped mine. I framed it in a Goodwill find that I decorated by wood burning in some simple, nature-inspired designs. They are noticeable but not overwhelming in the dark wood.
I couldn't badger by oldest into making something for his dad; the week before was stuffed full of Pokemon-related matters that needed attending. He waited until the morning of Father's Day to get his present together, then my husband told him that he just wanted to spend time with him.
He calls, "Mom, I don't have to do that thing anymore, Dad's favorite present is spending time!" So he abandoned the effort (what little there was) to watch Super Mario videos with his father. Proving again that while hard work sometimes pays off, procrastination always does.*
This week I gave myself a present and went to SmArt for a basket sale. Yarn and beads and terra cotta pots, oh my! I was tempted by the odds and ends abandoned there by other ambitious crafters- several notably creepy dolls to be sewn and clothed- but I refrained. I'm going to get several gifts off my craft table this weekend, and I'd like to see the surface before I cover it again.
Riding high toward the weekend!
