So wow, there’s been a lot going on lately. As school winds down and we prepare for a long drive to Disney at the end of the month, I am feeling overwhelmed, but I found a sure cure through playing in and purging my craft supplies, the next best thing to crafting!
My craft table got cleared (!), and bags of beautiful berry beads found a new home with my talented babysitter. They will be much happier now.
Yes, this counts as cleared.
I sifted through a stack of Son One’s school artwork, and I found one that he wanted to put into the state fair’s art contest. We put it in an old frame and stacked it with my embroidery entry, so it will be easily accessed in August. It's a cute little memory of his field trip to Traveler’s Rest, when he visited the old schoolhouse with his classmates.
I met the class there, and it was adorable watching my oldest and his friends giggling and playing in the pews of that one-room school. However, my favorite part of that trip was watching him climb the stairs of the bus, turn around to find me, and yell that I was “the worst mom ever” because I wasn’t taking him home early.
Just one of those sweet moments of mom life.
Stress this week also called for a little shopping therapy, and I headed to Goodwill with an eye for the yellow half-off tags. I found two pillowcases for $.50 a piece, and I snagged them with the intent to do some embroidery samples later. This one will look great with these leftover dark, shiny threads.
While I did purge my bead collection, these pillowcases will be portable and easy, with no expectations. I plan to make them pretty and send them to Edgehill's FreeStore, completing the circle of guilt-free shopping, freestyle embroidery, and good vibes.
So nice to streamline my crafting stash and prepare for the months ahead. Must be done to get to the fun!
