Feeling as festive as anyone this July 4, and I wanted to get the boys in the spirit as cutely and quickly as possible. So I went to a favorite material, felt, and decided to make them cute boutonnières. Not only is it the nation’s Birthday, it’s also the 90th birthday of my grandma, so bringing some well-dressed fellows can be my addition to the party.
They clean up good.
These types of crafts are a good way to reduce the stash pile, so once I had my plan in mind, I sifted through my fabric scraps and found two patterns that featured bright reds and deep blues. I also found a few denim hearts left over from another project- always fold and cut two at a time!
If you want some eye candy, google funky fabric boutonnière. There are some amazing ideas out there, including this set from MonicaJ made from pieces of neckties (I feel a visit to Goodwill!). Or Etsy, where lots of talent lives.
